St. John Neumann Men’s Club
A Parish Ministry of St. John Neumann Catholic Church
I hope that all of you who attended the February meeting on February 3rd had an enjoyable time. I would like to thank Nicolas Ferradaz of Old World Cigars for supplying the cigars for the evening and also Mike Mesa for contributing some of the libations which we enjoyed. They did an outstanding job of securing cigars and manning our bar. Special thanks to Dennis Stommes and his team for the setup of the pavilion for the meeting and cleanup after the meeting. We could have used more volunteers to clean up the pavilion and the kitchen. Please consider spending a few minutes after the meetings to pitch in and help them make the task go smoother and quicker. It was also very moving to hear from a few of our members recollecting Julio Valdivia in whose name we dedicate and celebrate the cigar night event.
We have a number of activities coming up in the next few months that need everyone’s support. At our March meeting on March 2nd, Archbishop Wenski will be our guest. Also, in April we will have our regular meeting on Monday the 6th and on Saturday the 18th we will be holding our Swing into Spring Dinner Dance (formerly known as Sweethearts Night). Don’t’ forget our annual golf tournament will take place on May 16 at the Doral Golf and Country club Gold Course. Our golf tournament needs your help in obtaining sponsors and small raffle gifts. The annual golf tournament is our major fund-raising event for the year and needs your support. We need each of you to take time to secure some support from our local merchants, in the form of a donation or gift card at their place of business. On the website is a list of the sponsorship levels and signups to play in the tournament.
Please plan on attending our March meeting and bring a relative, friend or neighbor to the meeting. This will be a men only meeting and I am sure some of you would like to share a cigar out at the pavilion with the Archbishop. I will be sending out a Flocknote email requesting an RSVP for the March meeting, so that we can get a better handle on how many dinners we expect to serve. To be a viable and sound organization, we need new members, especially younger adults.
On a final note, this is your club and we need more volunteers in the kitchen and in cleanup activities after the meetings. It only takes a few minutes to help and it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and God Bless you and your families in the new year.
